The goal of this project was to simplify existing design to reduce both manufacturing and assembly costs while maintaining original functionality with added 100 mm fire hose access hole. The part in consideration was a rear wheel panel for a medium wheel loader. It had 51 parts in the bill of materials, took over 30 minutes to assemble and parts were often lost or broke. My design reduced the part count to 11, made assembly intuitive and reduced assembly time.
